Whisper Video Transcription Process With Kaltura

Transcribing a Video

Videos to be transcribed should be tagged in Kaltura with:

  1. transcribeOne for videos with one speaker OR
  2. transcribeTwo if two or more speakers

Currently, the script will run once each morning at 3am ET. There is not a way to have it run immediately, unfortunately. 

Retranscribing a video

  1. Delete any tag that indicates the video has already been transcribed, like “transcribecomplete”
  2. Delete the existing captions
  3. Remove the video from the “3play_processed” category if it’s in that category
  4. Save your changes in Kaltura
  5. Add the appropriate tag, like “transcribeOne”

The new caption should be ready the next day.

Note that if the video has already undergone translation, you will need to follow steps outlined in the Retranslating Videos section of the Translate Video Captions in Kaltura article to get it re-submitted for translation.
