Student Survey FAQs

The End of Course announcement within your courses includes, among other messages, a reminder for students to complete the Course Exit Survey. This survey asks for their input on both course content and their learning experience, including the course facilitation. The dashboard to view these results is located on the eCornell Tableau server, which can be found on this link.

You will be prompted to enter your Cornell (Net ID) credentials on the login screen.

Tableau Frequently Asked Questions

How often is this data refreshed?  At least monthly. Usually every 2-3 weeks. NOTE: New facilitators are typically unable to view their results for at least a month after their first course runs.

Who do I contact if I have trouble accessing the Facilitator Dashboard? ec_facilitation@cornell.edu

Some or all my data is missing, what should I do? For the time being, the dashboard is aggregating data based on your canvas profile name. If that name does not match your name in Cornell’s workday system OR any known preferred name, the data will not be included in the dashboard. We will soon be implementing a more robust system of tracking and aggregating results. In the meantime, please avoid changing your canvas profile name. Instead, only change the canvas display name. Note, we have already accounted for common nicknames, titles, and certifications among existing users. However, if you recently changed your canvas profile name and think some of your data is missing, please contact ec_facilitation@cornell.edu

Who do I contact regarding questions about the data?  If you have specific questions about your performance or student feedback, please contact your facilitation manager (PFM).

When I return from viewing the text responses, the item I clicked is still highlighted on the homepage. How do I deselect?  Simply click the item again to clear the selection.

Rows of data are missing in some of the charts. Why? To preserve anonymity, averages representing fewer than three facilitators is not displayed. This may occur if there aren’t many facilitators in the course or if you select a narrow timeframe with fewer facilitators.

Why the light and dark blue dots on the comparison chart? We found that newer facilitators with just a few responses may show unusually high or low results. The light blue color distinguishes those with fewer than 25 responses from those with more, dark blue.

Do I need any special software to view?  No. Tableau is browser-based and should work well with all mainstream browsers.
