Adding Events to the Course Calendar

Adding live sessions to the Calendar is now automated via use of the Facil tool within your course. However, if needed, you can also follow the steps below if you need to manually add an event or Zoom meeting to your course in Canvas.

You are able to manually create a Calendar event from within your course Calendar if needed. You can do this from navigating to your "Calendar" tab on Canvas:

You'll want to make sure you select the specific course you're adding an event for, by toggling the colored icon ON via the right hand side

Then, click on the specific day you'd like to add the event for.

Be sure you paste your Zoom link into the "Locations" area if this is a Zoom meeting (steps on how to find your Personal Meeting ID can be found in this article), and make sure this specific course is the one where the event is being attached to:

Live sessions should be scheduled for once per week, preferably on Monday evenings anytime between 6PM to 9 PM ET. If Mondays are not possible, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 6PM to 9PM ET are preferable backup options during the week. Avoid mornings, mid-day and weekend sessions if possible. If a session must be held over the weekend, Sunday afternoons, 4PM ET to 7 PM ET are preferred.
