H5P Content Types & Accessibility

Remember that any H5P content will not appear in the course transcript.
Instead, a message will appear, stating "The full contents of this page cannot be rendered in the course transcript. Please complete this activity in the course." Consider using alternatives for H5P content if the information within it makes meaning for a learner, as it will be conspicuously absent from the course transcript.
WCAG 2.2 standards were published in October 2023, and Cornell University policy 5.12 urges that we use the most recently published standards. As of October 2023, H5P is supporting 2.1 standards. Please review your chosen element against the 2.2 updates — especially in regards to dragging movements and target size minimum— to ensure it still meets our minimum standard.

From H5P.com:

Below is a list of the H5P content types available on H5P.com. For each element in the list we indicate if the content type is accessible as well as whether or not the core team is maintaining it and if the content type has any known browser limitations.

When a content type is listed as accessible it means that either there are no known accessibility issues that we are aware of for the end user view of the content type, or that any known issues are about to be fixed. The goal for the accessible content types is WCAG 2.1 AA support, so the content types have been tested against these criteria and more. The content types have gone through a lot of testing with various screen readers, keyboard navigation, zooming, code inspection, and more. We can't, however, guarantee any level of accessibility support.  Do note that due to mistakes done by authors the example content (not the software) on H5P.org isn't always accessible yet. The example content sometimes doesn't have WCAG AA contrast and lacks subtitles and there are also other flaws not related to the software but caused by authors picking the wrong colors or not uploading subtitle files. This will be fixed, but unfortunately fixing especially the contrasts will be a lot of work since it requires completely redesigning or at least replacing all the colors in the example content to maintain the same aesthetic quality with improved contrast. Also, note that Screen Reader testing has focused on open and/or free screen readers like NVDA and ChromeVox.  When a content type is listed in red it means that the H5P Team does not recommend using it and is not actively fixing problems with it.
