Meet the Experts

Overview

The Meet the Experts and Ask the Expert pages in Canvas work together to deliver meaningful content. Please review these notes when using these page types.

The MTE functionality drives the content specific to the experts in the ATE pages. The MTE page does need to be published within the course, but does not need to be within Modules view. The standard is to always include and publish the MTE page in new courses that have more than one expert. To limit student access to the MTE page, do not include it in the Modules view. A Meet the Experts template exists in 8675309.

Fill in the required information for each expert:

  • Link to S3 image
  • Expert name
  • Expert title
  • Expert bio

Once you have populated the Meet the Experts page with expert information, there are a few things to take note of so as to accurately pull the bio from the MTE page into ATE pages.

Slug

Take note of the slug, that is, the part of the URL that contains the page name. Unless you have renamed your Meet the Experts page to something else, such as Meet the Activists, this will be meet-the-experts. "Meet the Experts" and "Ask the Expert" are eCornell standard naming conventions; variances in page naming would need approval from IDD. This slug is needed on ATE pages in order to bring in the bio.

Expert Number

Expert number corresponds to the order in which the experts are listed on the MTE page. The first expert is Expert 1, the second is Expert 2, and so on. This information is needed on the ATE page in order to bring in the correct bio.

Use With Ask the Expert Pages
