Professional Development Benefit

In addition to you, as facilitator, being able to enroll into eCornell courses for free of charge once your probationary period has ended (you can find steps on how to enroll as a student in this article). we also encourage you to extend a heavily discounted enrollment cost to your friends and family.

For Family Members

Have the family member follow this link: Enrollment Link-Family, and then complete the below steps:

  • Family member will need to be prepared to provide the eCornell staff member's name, NetID and department they work in
  • Family member will select the course or certificate program they wish to enroll and the state date of each course
  • Follow the prompts to checkout 
  • The system will create the Family members profile (if this is their first course) and enroll them into their certificate or course once they “check out” through the enrollment links.

For eCornell Staff Member Friend

Have the staff member's friend follow this link Enrollment Link-Friends and then complete the below steps:

  • Friend will need to be prepared to provide the eCornell staff member's name, NetID and department they work in
  • Select the certificate or course you wish to take, and the start date for each course
  • Follow the prompts to checkout 
  • The system will create the Friends profile and enroll them into their certificate or course once they “check out” through the enrollment links.

Free eCornell courses

Active eCornell course facilitators

  • You must be actively onboarding or facilitating courses on a regular basis.
  • This excludes courses in partner programs, such as our Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training, or any of the master's degree programs that eCornell hosts.
  • As a courtesy, please inform the facilitator of the course in which you are enrolling as a student.

Family rate ($100/course)

Family members of an active eCornell course facilitator

  • A family member is defined as a spouse, domestic partner, child, stepchild, sibling, parent, stepparent, grandparent, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law.
  • This excludes courses in partner programs, such as the Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training, or any of the master's degree programs that eCornell hosts.
  • Note that this does not apply to all eCornell courses; some cost more than $100, and others are not available at all for the family rate.

Friend rate ($100/course)

An employee may nominate 1 friend per year to enroll in eligible programs at $100 per short course

  • Partner programs, and non-standards cost programs are excluded from this benefit.
  • This excludes courses in partner programs, such as the Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training, or any of the master's degree programs that eCornell hosts.
  • Note that this does not apply to all eCornell courses; some cost more than $100, and others are not available at all for the friend rate.
