How Do I Customize My Course Sections?

It can sometimes be difficult to interpret the name of each course on your Canvas Dashboard- especially if you have been Facilitating the same course numerous times.

On your Dashboard, each course card reflects a different course section you've been enrolled in, either for training or to facilitate as a live session. The naming convention for each card has the course code along with the course title on the first line. The next set of numbers contains the start date of the section.

The cards themselves are drag-and-drop, so you can put them in any order you wish. You can also nickname your cards, by clicking on the three white vertical dots and changing the name in the window that appears.

You can also color-code the cards if you'd like. Students will not see your nickname for a course; they will only see the name of the course.

If you add a nickname to the course to make sure and include the start date of the section, as it will help you easily identify the section later.

Favoriting Courses

You are able to "favorite" courses by hitting the star icon to the left of the course name from the "All Courses" page This feature will allow them to be permanently tied to your Dashboard.

However, please note if you do this, only courses that have been "favorited" will appear on your Dashboard.

Please visit this article for directions on how to acess previous courses you've facilitated.
