Why Do I Have Multiple eCornell Accounts?

You will notice that you have two emails while facilitating for eCornell:

  1. a Net ID, or Outlook email, which will end with @cornell.edu, and
  2. An eCornell Gmail account, which will end with ecornell.com

Cornell University HR will provide you with your Net ID shortly after you begin onboarding with us.

The Facilitation Support team (ec_facilitation@cornell.edu) will provide you with your Gmail email 7-10 days after you receive your initial Welcome email.

You can find steps on how to set up email forwarding in this article.

What is the difference between ecornell.com and Cornell.edu accounts?

Your ecornell.com is your facilitator email. All facilitator access is connected to this account. That includes all training courses on Canvas and the Facilitator Portal, Ursus. Your eCornell.com email address is used to set up your Canvas/Ursus accounts.

Your cornell.edu (also called NetID) email is the primary email address you will utilize to correspond with Cornell staff.

Why Do I have 2 Canvas Accounts?

You may notice you have two ways of accessing Canvas. Each account corresponds to a different email. Your NetID email will house all HR/Staff related training and courses you may take as a student.

Your ecornell.com account will house all facilitator content such as your training courses, and courses you will be facilitating. You will primarily be using the ecornell.com account during the Course Facilitator Onboarding process.

Cornell.edu Outlook for Business Account

This account (also known as your “NetID”) is the primary email address and you will utilize this account to correspond with eCornell and Cornell staff members. (Note – this account is never used to communicate with students. You only communicate with students through the Canvas LMS.)

For Canvas, this email is associated with you Student Account: Your cornell.edu (NetID) email account is your student account. This maintains all HR/Staff related training and courses you take as a student.

eCornell.com Google/Gmail Account

This account is your Facilitator email connected to Gmail. You must use this account to access all courses on Canvas and the Facilitator Portal, Ursus. (Note – this account is never used to communicate with students. You only communicate with students through the Canvas LMS.)

Facilitator Account: Your ecornell.com email account has additional privileges enabled in Canvas for you to perform as a facilitator. This account will house all of your Training Courses, as well as the courses you facilitate. You will primarily be using the ecornell.com account during the Course Facilitator Onboarding process.
