Training Course Review & Facilitation Authorization

What to Focus On During Your Review

During your tenure at eCornell, you will be assigned courses to learn in preparation for future facilitation. Be sure to review all modules in order—from the first content page through the final assignment—and complete the attestation quiz at the end.

The training courses are for training only, therefore there is no live facilitation. The courses are for content review only. Please do not submit any assignments, setup announcements, add discussions or edit due dates as there are no live components or grading taking place. Please do not make any edits or changes to the modules.

Onboarding: If you are new to eCornell, please do not work through these courses in “Student View.” Your progress will not be recorded when using this mode.

The course review should include the following:

  • Content: Thoroughly review all modules, including written content, videos, and assignments, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the course materials.
  • Announcements: Review the standard announcements sent to students.
  • Syllabus: Review the syllabus for an understanding of the grading scheme.
  • Grades/Gradebook: Review the layout and point values for each assignment.
  • Discussion Board: Review the discussion questions and compose "mock" responses.
  • Facilitator Notes: These notes (if they exist) provide guidance from the course author and instructional design team about instructional intent.
These can be found from clicking Pages from the left menu bar, and then click the View All Pages button at the top of the page. Find the "AA Facilitator Notes" from the administrative menu within the course.

  • Course Projects: If available, download all Course Project documents and review in detail. Drafting your own responses to these questions will also provide a deeper understanding of the student experience.
  • View Inline Course Projects/Quizzes and Rubrics): Select Assignments or Quizzes from the left-hand navigation menu:

Then, click the name of the assignment you'd like to view:

You will see a page which looks like an assignment rubric/shell. To preview the assignment instructions click the gray name of the assignment again at the top of the page (this may not look like a link but it is!):

  • Rubrics: Once you open the Assignments/Quizzes, another way to view the rubric is to select SpeedGrader located on the upper right of the page, and then select View Rubric on the next page.
Special Note: Accessing and Viewing Courses That Utilize Codio Integration

When you are in training sections as a TA for Codio courses, you may use the "View as Student" functionality to see the Codio assignments from the student perspective. You can also participate in the assignment from this view.

  • Final Attestation/Quiz: You must complete the quiz at the end of the course for the course to be addd to your facilitation authorization profile.

You can visit this article for additional guidance on how to request new courses to learn as Facilitator.
