Integrating Content Authored by a Third Party

Jason Carroll Updated by Jason Carroll

If you need to integrate content that is authored outside of eCornell, such as articles, case studies, or graphics, consider the following:

  1. Copyright and Fair Use: Do we have the appropriate permissions/rights to share such content and host it on eCornell servers? If the content you want to include was not written or created by the faculty, review the Cornell Copyright Information article in the Knowledge Base.
  2. Accessibility: Does this article provide crucial information required to complete the course, and is the document accessible? E.g., is it a scanned, 400-page, and therefore inaccessible PDF?

If you have permission to share the content, but the content is fundamentally inaccessible, consider devising an accessible way to present key takeaways from the document. For example, an accessible tool developed with CSG if the information is essential, a read page to accompany the third-party content, and/or long descriptions for important graphs/charts.
