COE Preparation and Facilitation

COE Preparation and Facilitation

Catalog course development and certain custom projects will begin for instructional designers after the chartering process and kickoff meeting(s) with internal (and sometimes external) partners. The goal of the COE is to create or finalize the performance needs/goals for your learners and outline activities and other content for your course(s). The resources below will help guide you in this process.

COE Agenda Template

This template for a Course Outline Event  includes guidance for capturing the course elements and outline within the same document.

Before the meeting, insert the Audience description and Faculty Availability dates from the Charter/Starter Kit document, and then review and update those as needed during the COE.

The Learning Objectives in the Charter/Starter Kit document may provide a starting point as you work to define the specific workplace behaviors or actions in the COE.

PARSE for Faculty

During your content outline event (for catalog courses), you should also brief faculty on our PARSE methodology if they are new to our current design approach. This PARSE Design 2016 presentation for faculty can guide you in briefing our faculty authors and key stakeholders.

Instructional designers needing more information regarding PARSE are encouraged to seek input in from a fellow ID or IDD.
