Jason Carroll Updated by Jason Carroll

Introduction

New Quizzes is a quiz engine that integrates with Canvas and exists alongside the classic quizzes functionality. This article focuses on how to import a course containing new quizzes from CU Canvas to eCornell Canvas.

Instructions

  1. In CU Canvas Export the entire course via imscc package.
    1. In the CU for-credit course, navigate to Settings > Export Course Content
  2. Create a new course in eCornell Canvas
    1. In left navigation bar: Click Admin > eCornell > +Course button
  3. Enter the new course, then click Import Existing Content
  4. Choose the following selections:
    1. Content Type: Canvas Course Export Package
    2. Content: All Content
    3. Options: Import existing quizzes as New Quizzes
    4. Click Import
  5. Verify the quizzes properly imported in the new format:
    1. In the new eC course, navigate to Quizzes
    1. Click any of the imported quizzes. You should see a red Build button in the lower right corner of the new quiz. Click Build.
    2. The imported quiz will look like the screenshot below:
If the course you are importing contains both classic quizzes and new quizzes, following this process will convert the classic quizzes into new quizzes while keeping the new quizzes unchanged. To retain the classic quizzes in their original format, you must import the classic and new quizzes separately. Use the "Select Content" option, choose the batch of quizzes, and check the box for New Quizzes only if you are importing them.
