Blurring Background During Video Feedback with the Speedgrader

We have recently added the ability to blur your background within the Speedgrader when recording videos to accompany your AI Feedback (more information on AI Feedback here).

  1. To use the new blur feature, first, enter the Speedgrader for any assignment which contains the AI Feedback tool. This will typically be the first and last Course Project parts in your AI-enabled courses.

Click the title of your Course Project part from the "Assignments" page, and then click the three dots next to the Assignments name --> Speedgrader:

  1. Next, from within the Speedgrader, click the video recording icon in the lower left:
  1. A new window will pop up, where you are able to click "Blur" above your video preview:
  1. You should also use this pop up to ensure the correct camera is selected. Once you are ready to record, simply hit Start Recording. You may need to enable permissions (information on this in this article) if your video does not appear.

Voilà!

If desired, you may be able to change your background with software such as OBS studio (software works on both Mac and Windows), or background replacement using video effects on Mac.
Please note that these methods have not been thoroughly tested to work consistently with our current Speedgrader features.
