Create -T (Training Course)

Markette Pierce Updated by Markette Pierce

Beginning fall 2026, the -T course is being created as part of the Course Setup process, which is handled by ID/As, rather than the QA team as was traditionally done. It will be created entirely blank, and the QA team will associate it with the -M via the Blueprint as part of the deployment process. This article explains how to create and set up an entirely blank training course.

Purpose

The purpose of creating a blank -T course this early in the process is so that course facilitators can get enrolled without having to wait for the -M course to be deployed.

Process

  1. From the Admin tab in Canvas, click the +Course button.
  2. Complete the Add a New Course popup as seen below and click Add Course.
  3. Click the link to go to the new course.
  4. Go to settings in the new training course.
  5. Make the SIS-ID as below:
  6. Set the term to Default Term and the Participation to Course. Set the Start to today.
  7. For Grading Scheme, select Enable Course Grading Scheme, and set it to 85% Complete Master Grading Scheme.
  8. Make sure that only the bottommost checkboxes seen here are selected:
  9. Click the Update Course Details button.
  10. Under Course Status in the top right, publish the -T course.
